Hello people!

In continuation of our Internship Seminar series,Sagar Parekh of M. Sc. Physics (5th year) is going to deliver the next session about his work on General Relativity.

GR is the theory of space-time and gravitation, given by Einstein, and is a well proved tool for a better understanding of gravitation on the 'Macro level'. It is widely used in astrophysics & cosmology. It has been speculated that in order to have a complete understanding of the laws of nature, a quantum theory of gravitation is required. Hence it is considered very important to study GR, for a theoretical physicist. GR is comparatively hard to learn because of the rigorous mathematics involved, and also because it is against so many intuitive ideas.

Our speaker will start with a short introduction to Newtonian physics and special relativity, followed by description of the mathematical tools required for GR and some ideas of geometry. This will be concluded by elucidating the significance of GR & why it is different from the previous theories.

So folks, congregate at New APD Classroom at 5:30 PM Sharp to unleash your inquisitive minds!
